Fall 2026 After-School Chess Club at Pickering Valley Elementary School - for Experienced Players Wednesdays starting September 23, ending December 9 No club on Nov 25 (Thanksgiving week) Chess Club: 3:45–4:45 PM for 11 weeks Instructor: Dr. David Pustai, Keystone Chess Academy Founder and former NJ Junior State Chess Champion Join Keystone Chess Academy for a fun and engaging after-school chess club for experienced players. This section is designed for students who already know how the pieces move and are ready to go deeper. Each week includes a focused lesson followed by guided practice and supervised games, with instruction covering opening theory, middle-game principles, endgame technique, checkmate patterns, combinations and sacrifices, multi-move calculation, recognizing threats before they happen, grandmaster game reviews, and tournament preparation. Students new to chess are encouraged to join our "All-Levels" club, which meets Fridays at Pickering Valley. What’s Included - Professional chess instruction from our background-cleared coaches - Guided games and activities - All chess sets and supplies - Puzzles, awards, and discounts on tournaments, lessons, and camps Dismissal and Pickup - Students will transition directly from regular dismissal to chess club. - Parents should pick up their child promptly at 4:45 PM. This club requires a minimum of eight students to run. We will confirm one week before the start date. If enrollment does not reach eight, you will receive a full refund.
